So are you ready to start making money on etsy, but you don't know how to create a design or listen in essays to start making your first sales online? Well in this video, I want to take you step by step exactly how to create a design to mock up your design, to list it and get your first sale in etsy.
I'm going to show you all that coming up next, so welcome back to the video, my friends, my name is jay and if you are new here on this channel, I do everything from how to videos and step by step guides teaching you exactly how to build up your online business by creating digital products that will sell for a profit, and today we are learning how to actually create designs that will sell in etsy.

So, let's jump into the video all right so where we're gonna be spending our time today is in canva.
So if you don't know anything about canva or how to get there, I'm going to leave a link in my description box below that.
Would take you right there you sign up, it is free to use, and so we are going to use that version today.
Now, just to preface this tutorial, I am using the paid version of canva, so what that basically means is I get certain templates.
I get certain fonts that I use and certain images.
However, canva has a lot of free things you can use on here.
So I don't want you to be scared that I'm using the paid version.
Because, again, if you are using the free version, I have created tons of shirts and sold tons of shirts using the free version.
So if you are new here jump on, let's jump in and let's go ahead and get started, so here's what you want to do.
You first want to go over to t-shirt exactly what I did here.
You want to find the t-shirt templates and actually click one.
That really brings inspiration to you.
The way that I think about this is, I know when I create a t-shirt, I'm not going to create it from scratch.
However, I am going to change up what's already there and make it my own.
So again, don't try to work from a blank canvas.
I have videos where I teach you how to create things from blank cameras that can actually sell.
However, for this video tutorial, my goal is to just to show you how to create a shirt, how to mock up a shirt and how to lift up a shirt.
So again, you want to search up shirts in canva, because that give you the proper size for your particular template and so again we're going to go here and mess around a little bit with this, and so the first thing that you want to do is that, if you notice this entire design is grouped up together right, so I'm going to zoom in a little bit.
This whole design is just grouped up together and working with it.
Right now might be a little challenging so a little easy tip to let you know how to get out of that is you can just click on this and hit ungroup and what ungroups allows you to do is ungroup all of these items in our picture, where you can manipulate each individual one.
Now again, if you know that hey, you want to use all of the things that you just created, simply highlight it and hit group again, and I have a video of shortcuts.
If you guys want to know how to do this in a shortcut way, but for right now, that's the way we're going to do it today, all right.
So this is our t-shirt.
We just made in kev again.
Our goal today is not to create a t-shirt from scratch.
However, I do want to show you my process of how I actually listen.
My tv search on etsy so say: if this is our t-shirt, that we're using what you want to do is actually name your search.
Now there are a lot of people, I know who just hit download and they go.
But I am a firm believer in that you have to make sure everything is organized, because if you are trying to start a business, you want to make sure that you can find what you need to find when you need to find it.
So I want to name this.
I am uh 2, kids shirt and that's.
What we're going to do today is a kid shirt.
I want to go ahead and download this, and when you download this, you want to download this as a png file, just if you have a background just hit transparent.
Now again, this is a part of the pay version, but I have another video showing you how you can make any template or any correction you design with a transparent background, but for today I'm going to hit transparent and I'm going to hit download file and that's going to download right to my computer and then I'm going to show you the next step of how I'm actually able to mock this up all right.
So our next step that we're going to do today is now mock up the shirt.
Now, if you are new to my channel, I teach you guys several different ways.
You can mock up a shirt, but today we're going to use the website called place it place.
It is a great platform for you to mock up just not shirts, but any digital item you have created and so again, if you guys want to check out how I use place, it make sure you look at the link in the description box below because you're going to find the place it link, but also my deep dive tutorial of how I'm able to use place it for many different things.
But for today our goal is just simply to mock up a shirt, so let's jump into our mock-up all right.
So we are in placer right now and the first thing you want to do is go up to mock-ups and again they have a ton of different mock-ups you can use.
But again you want to check out that video of how I walk through each mock-up make sure you check out my channel and my link down below, but for right now we're going to go over to t-shirts.
Now one thing I do like about using this website place: it is that it gives you a lot of cool filters.
You can actually use to find your style that you want to use again when I create t-shirts on canva.
I try to use two types of images to display my design.
I try to use a flat lay, but I also try to find a real model to wear my shirt so that people know exactly how that shirt will look on them when they purchased it from me.
So I'm going to go ahead and right now find a flat lace, shirt and again, on the left hand side of place that you can actually filter all of these out that you can find exactly what you need.
So if you are new to place it, they do have a couple free designs.
You can actually use right now, but for this tutorial I am using the pay version.
But again there are multiple free mock-ups.
You can use so check out the site, so you know what is free, but in our case today I want to find a good mock-up that will bring out my design and it is a kid's shirt.
So I want to find something that is relatable to a kid, and so I'm going to use this one because it's free, so I think this would be a pretty good mock-up to use.
So one of the things I like about places that you are able to add several different things to your mock-up, like text change the shirt color in the background color to your image, and so it is a really good website to use if you are creating multiple colored shirts.
But for our case today we are just going to upload one shirt and so lets go ahead and do that now, so we are going to go ahead and mock up our shirt now.
The way you do that is simply go to insert image and find wherever your design is and upload that design to this mock-up.
So our image is uploaded, but before we get it mocked up on our shirt, we do have an option to crop the design, but I think it's good where it is and so we're going to go ahead and hit the crop button.
So again, one thing I love about placer is that again, if I know that my design is not standing out like I created to do that, I know that I can test out different colors just by a click of a button, and I can see how it looks in white, how it looks in black or how it looks in blue.
You know you have the option of seeing how your design looks in different colors, which I think is a great feature to have, but for this particular design, I'm going to go ahead and leave it in the blue that we have, because I think that really pops out now, just from a design perspective, I can realize that the pink is a little bit too strong in the background.
But again the reason why I love using place.
It is because you are able to make anything stand out that you feel is not placed well so again, if I believe that my background was a little too pink, I can change it to actually make the shirt pop out, and I think this is a pretty good style.
We have right here, so we have created our design in canva and we mopped it up using place it.
So the only thing we have to do now is download the image and move on to our next step actually list this product in essie.
So before we list our shirt in seo, I want to just talk a little bit about connecting your printful account to your etsy account.
That is a major point in how we're going to move forward today.
So if you have not created a printful account or you don't know how to connect, your printful account to your etsy store, then make sure you guys check out my other videos, because I walk you through step-by-step how to do that so make sure you connect your printful account to your etsy account.
So if you did that already, then let's jump back into our video all right.
So now, I'm back in sc and I'm going to show you exactly how you can list your t-shirt on etsy that we just created.
So what I'm going to do, I'm going to go and actually find my mock-up design, so our t-shirt mock-up is now in etsy, and this is how it's going to look when people search for the shirt.
However, what I tend to do is I tend to bring the design more in focus so that people can see how the shirt actually looks before they open it up on my account.
So again I have it saved here now I'm going to go to my next step and actually create the title for my shirt.
Alright.
So my title for my etsy listing is kids number birthday, shirt, birthday, shirt, happy birthday, shirt, kid birthday, shirt, happy, second birthday and if you guys have not checked out my other videos of how I'm able to get this title, because this title has a lot of major keywords in here, make sure you guys check out my other video, because I taught you guys exactly what keywords to use to actually get your product listing searched up in etsy.
So if you want to check that video out make sure you guys check out my link below because again I'll teach you exactly how you are able to find these titles that are full of keywords all right.
So we have the title of our particular t-shirt here we actually have the mock-up of our t-shirt, and the next thing that we're going to do is actually go to the description.
Now.
Etsy is not like youtube right with youtube.
They have told us that hey.
We want to put all the keywords in our description so that we can come up and search.
However, etsy is not like that, as he is all about making sure that the title is right as well as the keyword is right and the whole description is for the potential buyers, so this whole box that we have here this is where you speak to the potential buyer.
Now do not be like other people that fill this whole section out with paragraphs and all this type of stuff that people really don't want to read right.
They're, not reading a book, they're reading about your shirt, and so, if you can keep it down to maybe four or five bullet points of giving them information about your shirt.
This will help increase your sales.
So I have given you guys some key points you want to put on your description so that people know exactly about your shirt and that's the name of the shirt, the quality of your shirt, the size of your shirt, the shipping time of your shirt and any personalizations or further information.
You think, is needed regarding your shirts all right.
So I have created all of the keywords that I'm going to use for this particular listing.
Again, I teach you guys exactly how to create these keywords, because the keyword should match exactly what you have in the title.
Once you guys find that winning title, you want to put those same keywords in your keyword section or your tag section.
So I'm going to walk through these.
For you, I have birthday, shirt, happy birthday, tea, kid birthday, shirt, happy, second, birthday shirt, because that is our number four shirt.
Second birthday shirt.
Second birthday tea.
All these key words are so important, so don't feel like.
Well, I already put t-shirts, so I don't got to put t no, because some people just search up t some people search up the letter t dash shirt.
So you want to have all that as much as possible in here, kids number shirt, birthday, number t, second, birthday, kids birthday gift; again, that's a part of our whole theme here: birthday, shirt, kids, custom, kids, shirt, birthday, shirt, child, so you want to cover all of those key words that are exactly in our particular title.
So again, if someone is looking up happy birthday shirt for a second-year-old, our second child's birthday, then we know that our shirt will come up because our shirt is covering everything with the number two.
Now again, if you are making multiple shirts like seven year old, eight year olds, then you want to change that number and actually put that number in your tags.
However, for our particular listing today, I think this is a great way to start off and to test and see if these keywords work.
So a little secret of how you guys are able to make more sales on essie is to duplicate this listing right.
So when you create this shirt like we have here- and you have all this information laid out- and you did your keyword, research and everything like that- that I taught you guys in my other videos, the secret of making more money on etsy is you want to create multiple listings of the same shirt and then guess what use a different title and use different keywords? You keep the same design but you're using different information, because then you are able to test to see okay, what keywords work best for this particular design, and once you see a shirt, getting more views getting more favorites, getting more add to carts and getting more purchases, then you know this whole keyword section here is golden.
So again, a little tip is duplicate.
The listing that you have at least two or three times keep the design.
The same, however, use a different title with different keywords and your tags and see how well that particular listing does uh against the one that you just made so again.
